What is Amnezia Premium?​

Amnezia Premium is a paid VPN subscription from the AmneziaVPN team.

You can learn more about its features and benefits on the official Amnezia website (mirror).

Which locations are available in Amnezia Premium?​

Amnezia Premium offers 58 locations: Australia, Austria, Albania, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Germany, Hong Kong, Greenland [WL], Georgia, Denmark, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Cyprus, Colombia, Costa Rica, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Netherlands, Norway, United Arab Emirates, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, USA New York, USA Los Angeles, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Philippines, Finland, France, Croatia, Czechia, Chile, Switzerland [P2P], Sweden, Ecuador, Estonia, South Africa, South Korea, and Japan.

Is there automatic subscription renewal?​

For subscriptions bought on the Amnezia Premium payment page, there is no auto-renewal. You need to renew manually.

If you buy Amnezia Premium in the AmneziaVPN app on iOS through the App Store or on Android through Google Play, the subscription renews automatically. You can turn off auto-renewal in the subscription settings of the store you used.

How to renew Amnezia Premium subscription​

If your subscription was bought on the Amnezia Premium payment page, you can renew it yourself or through support. In these cases, you get 20% off.

You can renew any time while your subscription is active, or within 60 days after it expires.

If you bought your subscription in the AmneziaVPN app on iOS through the App Store or on Android through Google Play, it renews automatically through that store. The 20% renewal discount does not apply to these subscriptions.

For subscriptions bought on the payment page, these renewal options are available.

Option 1. Three days before your subscription expires, we’ll email you at the address you used at checkout. Click Renew Subscription, choose subscription duration and payment method, and complete the payment.

After payment, your subscription period will be extended. Your Subscription Key stays the same, and your connected devices keep working without interruption.

Option 2. If you want to renew early, didn’t get the email, or want to merge a new subscription with your current one, contact us via TG-bot or email [email protected].

Include the email address you used for your purchase.

Option 3. If you purchased Amnezia Premium on or after February 7, 2026, your Subscription Key email includes a link to your order details page.

Open that link, click Renew, choose subscription duration and payment method, and click Renew Subscription.

Option 4. In AmneziaVPN 4.8.15.4 or later, go to Settings → Servers → select the Amnezia Premium connection you need → click Renew subscription → choose subscription duration and payment method, and click Renew Subscription again.

How many devices can I connect to Amnezia Premium?​

Amnezia Premium supports up to 7 simultaneous connections.

A connection slot is used by:

  • any device that has connected at least once using the vpn:// key
  • any configuration file you generate, even if no device uses it

Once you hit the simultaneous connections limit (7 of 7), you won’t be able to generate a configuration file for another location or connect a new device using the vpn:// key. Connection attempts will return error 1108 (rarely 1100 or 1103). You can remove devices and configuration files in your Personal Dashboard.

Can I increase the device limit?​

No. If you need to connect more than 7 devices, you’ll need an additional Amnezia Premium subscription.

Can I get a discount on a second subscription?​

Message us via TG-bot or email [email protected] and we’ll tell you if you’re eligible for a discount.

Which app should I use to connect?​

Use the official AmneziaVPN app. It supports:

  • Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) / Windows 11 x64
  • iOS 16 and later
  • Android 9 and later (including Android TV). The app version for Android 7 and 8 is temporarily unavailable.
  • macOS 14.0 and later
  • Linux

Download the latest version from the official download page (mirror).

Alternative apps:

  • DefaultVPN — iOS 16 and later
  • AmneziaWG for Windows 7/8 — unofficial builds by RomikB: x32, x64, ARM64
  • AmneziaWG — Windows 10 x32, 10/11 x64, or 10/11 ARM64

Can I use third-party apps to connect to Amnezia Premium?​

Amnezia does not guarantee the compatibility or proper functioning of Premium with third-party apps and automated tools that are not officially supported by the service.

Some third-party apps may perform automated operations, including frequent API requests and server availability checks. If this activity creates excessive load, threatens the stability of the infrastructure, or triggers security systems, access to certain features or your account may be temporarily restricted to protect the service.

We recommend using officially supported connection methods and disabling third-party automation that causes these restrictions.

Can I use Amnezia Premium on a router?​

Yes. You can set up VPN on routers that support the AmneziaWG protocol, such as Keenetic and OpenWrt.

Can I use Amnezia Premium in Russia?​

VPN use in Russia isn’t prohibited for regular users.

Illegal activity is still illegal — with or without a VPN. Use Amnezia Premium in accordance with the laws in your country.

Amnezia does not keep logs. We don’t store or track user activity.

When you connect to Amnezia Premium, your ISP can’t see which sites you visit or what requests you send — your traffic goes through an encrypted tunnel between you and our server.

Can AmneziaVPN bypass whitelist-only restrictions?​

Yes. Amnezia Premium includes the Greenland location for bypassing whitelist-only restrictions. This location is useful if you are connecting from Russia or from a region where mobile internet is restricted by whitelists.

Why isn't Greenland shown in the location list?​

If the Greenland location is not displayed in the app, follow these steps in order:

  1. Make sure you are using the latest version of the app:
    • AmneziaVPN: compare your installed version with the latest version on the releases page;
    • DefaultVPN: compare your installed version with the latest version in the App Store.
  2. Disable:
    • third-party VPN apps;
    • proxies;
    • apps and extensions for bypassing blocks.
  3. Reload the API configuration.

Reload the API configuration over the mobile network you plan to use for connecting to this location if whitelist-only restrictions are introduced.

  1. After that, select the AmneziaWG protocol and check the connection to Greenland.

If Greenland still does not appear in the location list, contact us via TG-bot or email [email protected].

Why should I trust Amnezia Premium?​

We build Amnezia to earn your full trust:

  • No logs. We don’t collect browsing history, IP addresses, or session data.
  • RAM-only servers. Nothing is written to disk; data is wiped on reboot.
  • Independent audits. In 2022, 2024 and 2025, 7ASecurity reviewed our apps and server components. No critical vulnerabilities were found.
  • Open source. Our client apps are available on GitHub for independent review.

Which protocols does Amnezia Premium use?​

In the latest AmneziaVPN app, Amnezia Premium uses AmneziaWG 3.1 by default.

You can also connect using XRay VLESS Reality. To switch to it, tap the current AmneziaWG protocol on the main screen, select VLESS from the dropdown menu, and tap Connect.

How do I connect using AmneziaWG 3.1?​

Use a Subscription Key with AmneziaVPN or DefaultVPN, or import a configuration file into any of the following apps:

For Windows 7/8, use the unofficial builds by RomikB: x32, x64, ARM64.

Earlier versions of these apps do not support AmneziaWG 3.1. AmneziaWG 3.1 configuration files work in all the apps listed above.

What is VLESS and when should I use it?​

VLESS is a lightweight, secure VPN-protocol used in XRay for censorship circumvention and traffic proxying. Use it if you run into speed issues or can’t connect using the default protocol.

What speeds does Amnezia Premium provide?​

Amnezia Premium supports speeds up to 200 Mbps.

VPN speed can’t exceed your base internet connection speed.

Speed depends on your ISP and plan, distance to the selected location, routing, connection type (Wi‑Fi 2.4/5 GHz, LTE/5G, Ethernet), and background downloads.

Can I download torrents?​

Yes — but only when connected to Switzerland [P2P].

Can I use Amnezia Premium abroad?​

Yes. Amnezia Premium works even in countries where VPNs are restricted, such as Turkey or the UAE.

Can I access Russian websites from abroad?​

Yes. Russian websites and apps should work with Amnezia Premium enabled when connected to any location except Switzerland [P2P], regardless of which country you are in.

If a Russian website or app does not open when connected to any other location, contact support via TG-bot or email [email protected] — the service should be available.

Will Amnezia Premium work in China?​

We haven’t tested it specifically for China, so we can’t guarantee stable performance.

If you connect from China, use split tunneling so only traffic to external resources goes through the VPN.

Why are some locations missing from the app?​

Due to blocking, some locations may be temporarily unavailable. We’re actively working to restore them.

Can I buy a 1 or 3-month subscription?​

A 1-month subscription is only available in the AmneziaVPN app on iOS through the App Store or on Android through Google Play.

In both stores, the subscription starts with 7 free days. This period is mandatory — you cannot skip it and start the paid period immediately.

A 3-month subscription is not available.

Is there a free trial?​

Yes. We offer a free 7-day trial. We only need your email address to send setup instructions.

To request a trial, message us via TG-bot or email [email protected].

How can I pay in Russia?​

You can pay with a ruble card from any Russian bank or via "SBP" (Faster Payments System).

You can also pay with cryptocurrency or any bank card.

What data is required for payment?​

If you pay on the Amnezia Premium payment page, only your email address is required. We’ll send your setup instructions and Subscription Key there.

Can I cancel my Amnezia Premium subscription and get a refund?​

Yes. If you paid on the Amnezia Premium payment page, refunds are available within 14 days of payment.

Contact support at [email protected] and include the email address used for the subscription. We will refund the payment using the same method you used for the purchase.

How do I cancel my Amnezia Premium subscription or request a refund through the App Store or Google Play?​

If you subscribed in the AmneziaVPN app, use the store where you purchased the subscription to cancel it or request a refund:

Amnezia does not cancel subscriptions or issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play. Refund requests are reviewed by the respective app store.

Is there a referral program?​

No. However, we have a partner program (mirror) for communities and content creators.

How do I connect after paying?​

If you paid on the Amnezia Premium payment page, check the inbox for the email address you used at checkout. It includes setup instructions and your Subscription Key.

If you make a purchase in the AmneziaVPN app on iOS through the App Store or on Android through Google Play, your connection is added automatically. You won't receive an email with setup instructions or a Subscription Key.

If the new connection doesn't appear after you make a purchase through the App Store or Google Play, click Let's get started if you don't have any connections yet. Otherwise, click ➕ (plus icon) on the main screen. On the Connection screen, scroll down and click Restore purchases. Your subscription will then appear in the app.

What is a "Subscription Key"?​

A Subscription Key is a text string that starts with vpn://. It’s not a clickable link.

You use this key to add connection in the AmneziaVPN app and to log in to your Personal Dashboard (mirror).

How do I add a second device?​

Copy the vpn:// Subscription Key to the second device, install the AmneziaVPN app, and add a new connection using the key.

Can I use one config file on multiple devices?​

No. A single configuration file can only be used by one device at a time.

Can I use the same location on multiple devices?​

Yes — as long as you connect using the vpn:// Subscription Key. A configuration file for a specific location can only be used on one device.

What if I didn't receive the email after paying?​

If you paid on the Amnezia Premium payment page and do not receive an email within 15 minutes, contact us via TG-bot or email [email protected].

If you paid on the Amnezia Premium payment page, check your email address. Most of the time, the email does not arrive because of a typo.

Why can't I connect?​

Common reasons include:

  • the app you use to connect is not updated to the latest available version
  • you’re using mobile internet that works only via “whitelists”
  • your ISP is blocking the VPN server IP address
  • you have a DPI-bypass app (for example, Zapret or ByeDPI), antivirus, or other security software installed. Antivirus and other security software can affect network connections and interfere with AmneziaVPN even when turned off. This happens most often with Kaspersky, Dr.Web, and Avast. See Apps that conflict with AmneziaVPN for the full list.

What should I do if error 1111 appears?​

Error 1111 means you are using an outdated AmneziaVPN version.

Install the latest app version from the official downloads page (mirror) and try connecting again.

Does AmneziaVPN block ads?​

No. The AmneziaVPN app and the Amnezia Premium service do not have a built-in feature to remove or hide ads.

In some locations, YouTube ads may still not appear because Google sees our server IP address as Russian.

Can I change the app language?​

Yes. Go to Settings (gear icon) → Application → Language.

What if the VPN stops working on my router?​

The steps below apply only to routers that support AmneziaWG 3.1.

If VPN stops working on your router, try a different location.

Try these steps, in order:

  1. Test via configuration file. In the AmneziaVPN app, generate a configuration file for a location, import it into the app, and test stability. If it fails, revoke the file, generate one for a different location, and repeat.

  2. Test on your router. Once you find a working location using a configuration file in the app, import that configuration into your router.

Why doesn't Gemini work with Amnezia Premium?​

For Gemini, you can use any Amnezia Premium location except Russia.

If Gemini does not work, follow the steps in Gemini is not working in Amnezia Premium.

If Gemini still does not work after you complete these steps, contact us via TG-bot or email [email protected].

Why don't YouTube or other Google services work with Amnezia Premium?​

Google services may work differently depending on the selected location. If YouTube or other Google services do not work correctly, try connecting to locations in Europe or the United States. You can start with the Netherlands and Germany.

In some cases, the steps in Gemini is not working in Amnezia Premium may also help you access other AI services, Google services, or YouTube.

Why does Google see me in Russia?​

Turn off split tunneling and refresh the page. If the issue persists, it doesn’t necessarily mean the site sees your real IP address — it may be misidentifying our server’s location.

Our servers are physically located in the locations you choose. You can verify this on IPinfo.io.

Why does my internet stop when I connect?​

An unstable connection may trigger KillSwitch. You can disable it in AmneziaVPN settings under Connection.

Why is the internet slow?​

ISPs often throttle speeds to foreign IP addresses.

To test objectively, use nPerf with and without VPN, and select an overseas test server in your VPN location’s region (for example, if you’re connected to Germany, test against a Germany-based server).

Why does the connection drop on my smartphone?​

Android restricts background activity to save battery, which can stop VPN connections.

Solution: Disable battery optimization (power saving) for the AmneziaVPN app in your phone settings.

Another possible cause is temporary mobile-internet restrictions based on “whitelists.”

How do I download the app if it's not in the App Store?​

You can change your App Store region or create a new Apple ID in a supported region.

How do I install on Android without Google Play?​

  1. Go to our GitHub releases page.
  2. Find the version marked Latest (green badge).
  3. Download the .apk file and open it to install.

For details on choosing the right APK file, see Installing APK Files on Android.

The current APK files are available for Android 9 and later. The app version for Android 7 and 8 is temporarily unavailable.

During installation, allow installs from unknown sources only for the app (browser or file manager) you used to download the file.

Will the app update automatically (APK)?​

No. If you install via APK, you’ll need to download and install updates manually.

Error: "Failed to install AmneziaVPN app" via Google Play​

This happens when you try to update an APK-installed version through Google Play.

Solution: Uninstall the app, then install it from Google Play (or download the latest APK from GitHub).

How much is Amnezia Free?​

It’s completely free.

Why is it free?​

We believe free access to information is a fundamental human right.

Technically, Amnezia Free uses split tunneling: Amnezia Free servers handle only traffic to a list of blocked resources, such as social media and news sites, not all of your internet traffic. This reduces infrastructure load and allows us to offer the service for free.

We don’t show ads and we don’t collect logs or user data. AmneziaVPN app is open source and available for audit.

How to connect to Amnezia Free?​

Download the app from the official page (mirror).

Open AmneziaVPN → Let’s get started → VPN by Amnezia → Amnezia Free → Connect.

Which protocol does Amnezia Free use?​

In the latest AmneziaVPN app, Amnezia Free uses AmneziaWG 3.1.

Note: The XRay VLESS protocol is available only in Amnezia Premium (mirror).

How do I connect using AmneziaWG 3.1?​

Set up the connection through VPN by Amnezia, or use a connection key with one of the following apps:

Can I choose a location?​

No. Location selection is a Premium feature.

Which websites are accessible?​

We do not publish a full list, but you can see examples on the official website (mirror).

If a blocked site doesn’t open through Amnezia Free, you can suggest it via TG-bot or email [email protected]. Note that we don’t add resources with harmful, unsafe, or unacceptable content.

What if I want VPN for all websites?​

Use Amnezia Premium, which routes all traffic and works for any sites and apps.

Alternatively, you can host your own VPN using the AmneziaVPN app and a VPS.

Can I install Amnezia Free on a router?​

No. You cannot set up Amnezia Free on a router.

You can set up Amnezia Premium on a router that supports AmneziaWG 3.1: router guides.

You can set up VPN on a router with Amnezia Self-hosted and AmneziaWG 2.0. Install VPN on your own or rented server, then create a configuration file in the AmneziaVPN app and upload it to the router. Devices connected to the router will use VPN through your server.

Why can't I connect?​

Most common reasons:

  • the app you use to connect is not updated to the latest available version
  • you’re using mobile internet that works only via “whitelists”
  • your ISP has blocked the VPN server IP address
  • you have a DPI-bypass app (for example, Zapret or ByeDPI), antivirus, or other security software installed. Antivirus and other security software can affect network connections and interfere with AmneziaVPN even when turned off. This happens most often with Kaspersky, Dr.Web, and Avast. Why do IP checkers show my real IP?​

Because that IP-check website doesn’t open through Amnezia Free.

With Amnezia Free, only some blocked sites open through VPN. Everything else opens from your real IP address.

Why doesn't Gemini work?​

Google identifies Amnezia Free server IPs as Russian, and Google AI services aren’t available from Russia.

Unfortunately, we can’t control how websites and services determine IP geolocation (including Google), but we’re already working on a solution.

Why does my internet stop working on my PC/laptop after I connect?​

This can happen if your connection is unstable and KillSwitch turns on. You can disable it in AmneziaVPN settings under Connection.

Why is Amnezia Free slow?​

Blocked sites available through Amnezia Free may have a speed limit. The exact limit can vary by region and service conditions. It doesn’t affect unblocked sites and services because they do not go through Amnezia Free servers.

There’s no such speed limit in Amnezia Premium (mirror).

Why does Amnezia Free disconnect on my smartphone from time to time?​

Android often limits background activity by default, so even an active VPN connection in AmneziaVPN may stop after a while.

Disable battery optimization (activity control) for the AmneziaVPN app.

Another possible cause is temporary mobile-internet restrictions based on “whitelists.”

What VPS specifications do I need?​

How do I set up VPN on my server?​

Follow the guide: Installing VPN on your server.

Can I use AmneziaVPN for Self-hosted on my device?​

Use the latest version of AmneziaVPN to set up and connect to a Self-hosted VPN. The latest app versions work on devices with the following operating systems:

  • Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) / Windows 11 x64
  • iOS 16 and later
  • Android 9 and later (including Android TV). The app version for Android 7 and 8 is temporarily unavailable.
  • macOS 14.0 and later
  • Linux

Can I install AmneziaWG 3.1 on a Self-hosted server using AmneziaVPN?​

Yes. Use AmneziaVPN 5.0.1.5 or later.

AmneziaWG 2.0 is outdated and does not include the latest security improvements, but it will continue to work. We recommend moving to AmneziaWG 3.1 by deploying a new container that uses the more secure protocol version. To do so, remove AmneziaWG from the server and install it again. The app will deploy a new AmneziaWG 3.1 container.

After installing the new container, you will need to create the users again and issue new connection keys or configuration files.

Can I change or update a protocol without issuing new keys?​

It depends on what you change.

If you change protocol parameters only in the connection settings on one device, you do not need to issue new keys. The change affects only that device.

If you change the server protocol settings, change the protocol port on the server, reinstall the protocol, or replace it with a new Docker container, previously issued keys and configuration files for this protocol will stop working. In this case, create the users again and issue new keys or configuration files.

Can I connect a Self-hosted VPN to a router using AmneziaWG 3.1?​

Yes, if your router supports AmneziaWG 3.1. See the guides for Keenetic/Netcraze and OpenWrt.

An AmneziaWG 3.1 configuration file cannot be converted for use with AmneziaWG 2.0 — the resulting connection will not work.

How do I configure XRay?​

More detailed information about XRay settings will be available later.

For now, you can only change SNI and, if necessary, the port.

Changing any other XRay server settings will cause the VPN connection to stop working.

Which VPN protocol should I choose?​

If your country has a very high level of internet censorship, access to many websites is blocked, and commercial and free VPNs and VPN protocols often do not work, we recommend using only AmneziaWG and XRay. We also recommend enabling split tunneling for some sites, so part of your traffic goes through your real IP address.

If VPNs are not blocked in your region, you can choose any available protocol at your discretion.

What should I do if I get errors 300–305 during the initial VPN setup?​

  1. Check that the server IP address, username (root), and password are entered correctly, with no extra spaces or characters.
  2. Make sure your internet connection is working properly. For example, you can test speed to foreign servers on https://nperf.com.
  3. Check whether you can connect to the server over SSH.

Error 300 can also occur if password authentication is disabled on the server (PasswordAuthentication no) while AmneziaVPN is trying to connect with a password. Use an SSH key to connect, or enable password authentication in the server's SSH settings and reconnect with the password. See Error 300 for details.

What should I do if the VPN connection stops working?​

  1. Make sure your VPS shows as active in your hosting provider’s control panel.
  2. Make sure the server is paid for — you may have missed the latest invoice.
  3. Make sure your internet connection is working properly. For example, you can test speed to foreign servers on https://nperf.com.

What if my internet access is restricted to a whitelist?​

If your internet access is fully or partially restricted to a whitelist, you will not be able to connect to the VPN or to the server over SSH.

In this case, the only option is to switch to a different internet connection — for example, a different mobile operator or ISP.

How can I tell whether my internet access is restricted to a whitelist?​

This usually means one of the following:

  • the VPN does not connect at all;
  • the VPN connects, but there is no traffic;
  • foreign websites that your provider does not normally block do not open;
  • the speed test to foreign servers on https://nperf.com fails, or the site itself does not open.

Can whitelist-only internet restrictions be bypassed?​

For Amnezia Self-hosted, there is currently no ready-made supported way to bypass whitelist-only restrictions: the connection depends on the specific provider and region.

If you are ready to look into it yourself, you can try the approach from this article: https://habr.com/ru/articles/985674. The article is in Russian. Turn on VPN to open it. We do not support this method as a ready-made guide and cannot guarantee that it will work in your network.

If you are looking for a ready-made solution for bypassing whitelist-only restrictions, you can try Amnezia Premium: it includes the Greenland location for such cases.

What if my internet is working properly, but the VPN still does not work?​

Check whether other software on your device is interfering with the connection. See Apps that conflict with AmneziaVPN for the full list.

Try connecting with AmneziaWG 3.1. If AmneziaWG 2.0 is installed on your server, update AmneziaVPN to version 5.0.1.5 or later, remove AmneziaWG from the server, and install it again.

Why is my VPN speed below 100 Mbps?​

The most common reasons are:

  • another user of your VPN is using part of the available bandwidth;
  • your internet speed without VPN to foreign servers is below 100 Mbps;
  • traffic routing between the server and your device;
  • the VPN protocol you use — encryption reduces speed;
  • your internet access is restricted to a whitelist.

How do I measure internet speed correctly on the server?​

To check the server speed correctly:

  1. Install the Speedtest utility on the server:

Should I use UDP or TCP?​

For OpenVPN:

  • UDP: faster; good for streaming and gaming; may lose occasional packets
  • TCP: slower but reliable (no packet loss); good for browsing and file transfers

You can change this in the protocol settings.

In Amnezia Premium, both options are available: AmneziaWG uses UDP, and XRay uses TCP.

How do I use VPN only for specific sites?​

Can I use key-based authentication?​

Yes. AmneziaVPN supports both password and key-based authentication.

Supported OpenSSH key types: RSA (2048, 3072, 4096) and ECDSA (nistp256).

Why should I change my DNS?​

Traffic-analysis systems can infer your country not only from your external IP, but also from your DNS resolver. Changing DNS improves privacy.

The simplest option is AmneziaDNS.

How do I reinstall the app without losing settings?​

Simply reinstalling the app preserves your added servers.

If you’re reinstalling your OS, create a backup first and store it externally.

How do I share VPN with other people or my devices?​

You can share full access (server management) or connection-only access (guest).

We recommend sharing guest access — even with your own devices.

  1. Tap Share (bottom panel).
  2. Enter a user name, select a server and protocol (and a connection format, if needed), then tap Share.
  3. Share access via QR code, the vpn:// key, or a file.

Each guest key works with only one selected protocol. Generate a separate key for each protocol.

  • Linux: /home/USERNAME/.local/share/AmneziaVPN

You can also open these folders via: Settings → Application → Logging → Open logs folder.
